Skatepark of Tampa Celebrates 20 Years

Tampa, Florida – March 14, 2013 – Local Tampa business with global recognition, Skatepark of Tampa, celebrates 20 years with an annual event-filled weekend, March 21 - 24, 2013.

Every March, professional skateboarders from around the world visit Skatepark of Tampa, casually known as SPoT, for the legendary Tampa Pro Contest with an $85,000 cash prize purse. This event is widely known as the world’s most respected professional skateboarding gathering and is presented by Nike and sponsored by Red Bull and Gatorade.

The weekend consists of non-stop excitement:
  • Thursday night:  Welcome to Tampa Party / Art Show Presented by Girl Skateboards at The Bricks in Ybor City
  • Friday:  Team Manager / Industry VIP Street Contest, Tampa Am Vert, and the Legendary Vert Session Presented by Nike Skateboarding. Christian Hosio, Jeff Grosso, our local pro and pioneer of vert skateboarding, Mike Frazier, and more will be in skating
  • Friday night:  Art Show Presented by Girl Skateboards at The Bricks in Ybor City
  • Saturday:  19th Annual Tampa Pro Street Qualifiers and Best Trick
  • Saturday night:  20 Year Anniversary Party at The RITZ Ybor featuring hip-hop artist Big Boi who is also celebrating 20 years of Outkast. Metz is opening
  • Sunday:  19th Annual Tampa Pro Semi-Finals and Finals
  • Sunday night:  After Party at The Bricks in Ybor City

If you can’t make it to SPoT to witness the skating firsthand, there is a live broadcast at on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
